Bharti Airtel Limited and Zscaler, Inc. have announced a partnership to launch the ‘AI & Cyber Threat Research Center – India’, a facility designed “In India, For India” and intends to support the nation's progress toward “Viksit Bharat” and a digitally self-reliant future, the company said in a press release.

The companies stated that the centre will function as a collaborative platform involving the private sector, public sector, academia, and the government. Its primary mandate is to protect critical sectors essential to India’s economic and national security, specifically telecommunications, banking, and energy, while accelerating the adoption of trusted artificial intelligence (AI) across the digital ecosystem.

Under the terms of the collaboration, Zscaler will deploy a specialised threat research team focused on India. The company will utilise its Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform, which processes over 500 billion daily transactions, to extract threat intelligence. Bharti Airtel will contribute local operational reach and deep visibility into Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile traffic to monitor networks and identify suspicious activity. The filing noted that additional members from India’s critical public and private sectors would be invited to join the initiative.
