Wipro to Acquire HARMAN’s Digital Transformation Unit

Wipro Ltd. has signed an agreement to acquire the digital transformation solutions business of HARMAN, a Samsung company, to strengthen its next-generation engineering research and development services, the IT major said in an exchange filing on Thursday.

The transaction will see over 5,600 employees, including key leadership across America, Europe and Asia, move to Wipro once the deal closes. Subject to regulatory approvals, completion is expected by December 31.

Wipro will also enter a multi-year strategic agreement with HARMAN and Samsung to deepen collaboration and explore new avenues of growth. Following the acquisition, the digital transformation business will be integrated into Wipro’s engineering global business line. Deutsche Bank Securities acted as financial advisor to HARMAN.
