Two-Wheeler Market Dispatches Surge in March; TVS Motor Leads Growth

The two-wheeler market saw a strong resurgence in March 2025, with leading manufacturers reporting record sales figures, based on dispatch numbers shared by companies.

TVS Motor Co spearheaded the growth, achieving its highest two-wheeler dispatches since October, with sales reaching 400,120 units—a 16% year-on-year increase. This growth was driven by a 27% surge in scooter sales, totalling 166,237 units and outpaced motorcycle sales, which rose by 15% to 196,734 units.

TVS Motor's domestic sales were robust at 297,622 units, marking a 14% year-on-year rise. The company's iQube electric scooter emerged as a standout performer, with sales of 26,935 units in March, reflecting a remarkable 77% growth from the previous year. Exports also surged, with two-wheeler exports increasing by 22% to 102,498 units. For FY25, TVS Motor reported record sales of 4.74 million units, representing a 13% on year growth.

Royal Enfield, a division of Eicher Motors, also delivered strong results with record-high motorcycle sales of 101,021 units in March—a 34% year-on-year increase.  The motorcycle sales volume of the company reached its highest-ever 1 million annual sales milestone for the financial year ended March 2025. Domestic sales rose 33% on year to 88,050 motorcycles, while exports reached rose 36% on year to 12,971 units. Royal Enfield sold 868,667 motorcycles in the under-350cc segment, up 7% on year, and 141,233 units in the over-350cc category, a 40% on year rise. 

Ola Electric Mobility joined the momentum with March sales of 23,430 electric scooters. The company nearly cleared its February backlog and began delivering its Gen 3 electric vehicles. Production ramped up significantly in March and is set to increase further in April.

Industry majors Bajaj Auto and Hero Motocorp have not yet released their March sales numbers.
