State Bank of India plans to raise up to ₹250 billion as equity capital in 2025–26 through a follow-on public offer, qualified institutional placement, or any other route or combination of these, the bank told exchanges Saturday.

It also plans to raise funds in 2025-26 via Basel-III compliant additional tier-I bonds, tier-II bonds, and infrastructure bonds, Chairman C.S. Setty said at a post-earnings press conference. The bank is also exploring other fund-raising avenues, including a stake sale in its subsidiaries, he added.

In 2024-25, SBI raised ₹500 billion through additional tier-I, tier-II, and infrastructure bonds. It has not tapped the bond market so far in 2025-26. The bank’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 14.25% as on March 31.
