NLC India Ltd. on Monday said its wholly-owned subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Ltd., has won a letter of award from Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corp. Ltd. to develop three standalone battery energy storage systems with a total capacity of 250 megawatt or 500 megawatt-hour.

The project will be implemented under the build-own-operate model with viability gap funding support under the state component, NLC India said in a stock exchange filing.

The energy storage systems will be located at the Ottapidaram, Anuppankulam, and Kayathar substations in Tamil Nadu. These substations handle power transmission at 400, 230, and 110 kilovolt, respectively.

The company secured the project through a competitive bidding process, it added.
