Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. on Thursday said its retail sales have touched 75,000 units since Monday and are expected to cross 80,000 units by the end of the day, following the implementation of the new goods and services tax reforms.
The automaker said customer response has been “very strong,” with enquiries nearly doubling to 80,000 from a daily average of 40,000–45,000 earlier.
Overall bookings across all models rose 35% in the past four days, averaging 18,000 units daily. Small cars are driving the momentum with 50% growth compared to earlier levels, Maruti Suzuki said. Outside the top 100 cities, bookings for small cars have nearly doubled.
