HCL Technologies Ltd. on Monday said it has signed the European Commission’s artificial intelligence pact, reaffirming its commitment to the ethical development and deployment of AI both internally and for its clients.

The voluntary framework, introduced ahead of the implementation of the EU’s AI Act which is the bloc’s first comprehensive AI regulation; urges organisations to prioritise safety, transparency, and human oversight in their AI practices.

By signing the pact, HCL Technologies has agreed to adopt an AI governance strategy, identify systems that may be classified as high-risk under the Act, and promote AI literacy across the organisation. The company said this move is part of its efforts to align with the upcoming regulatory landscape and encourage responsible AI adoption.
