Global Health Ltd., which operates hospitals under the Medanta brand, on Monday said it will invest ₹5.10 billion to set up a 400-bed super specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam. This will be the company’s first hospital in northeast India, it said in an exchange filing.
The investment includes ₹300 million for the purchase of a three-acre land parcel from Assam Electricity Grid Corp. This will be funded through internal accruals. The hospital will be developed over three to four years in a phased manner.
The facility, located at Sarusajai electrical sub-station in Guwahati, is expected to serve over 50 million people across Assam and neighbouring states, the company said.
Global Health currently operates hospitals in Gurugram, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Patna, with a total capacity of 3,042 beds as of March 31.
