Eicher Motors Ltd. started off 2025-26 on a robust note as its commercial vehicle sales through its joint venture with Swedish conglomerate Volvo Group hit the highest level since August 2023, driven by strong domestic sales.
VE Commercial Vehicles sold 6,717 Eicher trucks and buses in April, marking a 28% on year growth, including domestic sales and exports. In India, the company sold 6,257 units, up 28%, representing the strongest growth since October 2023. Total exports by the joint venture grew 29% on year to 460 units in April.
Despatches of small commercial vehicles and light-medium duty trucks, which contribute around 44% of domestic sales, grew 22% on year to 2,750 units. The company also sold 2,025 light-medium duty buses to dealers in April, registering a growth of 62%. This segment contributes around 33% to its overall India sales. While sales of heavy-duty buses in April grew 38% on year to 163 units, heavy-duty truck sales grew modestly by 4.4% to 1,319 units.
The company sold 129 Volvo trucks and buses in April, up 5% on year.
