Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd. said operations have commenced at the $800-million Colombo West International Terminal in Sri Lanka. Built under a public–private partnership, the terminal is run by a consortium of Adani Ports, John Keells Holdings, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority under a 35-year BOT agreement.
The terminal features a 1,400-metre quay and 20-metre depth, with an annual handling capacity of 3.2 million TEUs. Together with Vizhinjam port in Kerala, it is set to bolster Adani’s Indian Ocean trans-shipment network.
Meanwhile, Adani Green Energy exited two wind power projects in northern Sri Lanka in February due to stalled tariff negotiations.
