Jindal Steel and Power has completed the expansion of its Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha to 12 million tonnes per annum, following the commissioning of the third basic oxygen furnace with a capacity of 3 MTPA, the company said in a press release.
The expansion includes operationalisation of BOF-2 and BOF-3, along with associated upstream and downstream facilities such as coke ovens and the cold rolling mill complex, enabling integrated operations and capacity ramp-up, the company said.
With this, Jindal Steel has doubled Angul’s crude steel capacity from 6 MTPA to 12 MTPA within the planned timeline, making it one of the largest single-location integrated steel complexes in India.
Post expansion, the company’s total crude steel capacity has increased to 15.6 MTPA, including 3.6 MTPA at its Raigarh facility.
The company said the higher capacity is expected to support volume growth and improve utilisation levels, while driving operating leverage. It added that increased scale and integration should help optimise costs, improve margins, and strengthen profitability.
