Iran Says It Hit US-Linked Targets; Bahrain Reports Drone Attack

Iran said it struck targets linked to US forces in response to American airstrikes on its southern coast, while Bahrain said it had been hit by an Iranian drone attack, Reuters reported.

Iran’s foreign ministry described the strikes as defensive and said they followed US attacks on coastal surveillance facilities. It did not identify the locations targeted. Bahrain, which hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, condemned what it called an Iranian drone attack on its territory and said it reserved the right to defend itself.

The latest exchange came as Washington and Tehran accused each other of violating last week’s interim agreement aimed at ending the four-month-old conflict. The US military said its Friday strikes were a response to an Iranian drone attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian state television said the Revolutionary Guards had delivered a “decisive response” after US forces hit a communications tower in Sirik. Iran’s Mehr news agency said the port was operating normally and reported no damage to facilities or equipment.

US Vice President JD Vance said Washington had honoured the ceasefire and warned that “violence will be met with violence.” Separately, US Central Command said it would continue supporting commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Reuters said oil prices had fallen about 3% on Friday before the renewed violence, as tankers exited the Strait of Hormuz and Saudi Aramco resumed crude loadings at Ras Tanura after a nearly four-month halt.
