Torrent Power Ltd. on Saturday said it has secured an order from MP Power Management Co. Ltd. to set up a 1.6 gigawatt coal-based power plant in Madhya Pradesh. The company will supply electricity generated from the facility to the state-run distribution company.
The project is estimated to cost ₹220 billion and is expected to generate annual revenue of around ₹65 billion, the company said in an exchange filing.
The contract will run for 25 years. Coal required for the plant will be arranged by MP Power Management under the central government’s Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India policy.
