SJVN March Quarter Profit Falls 50% to Eight-Quarter Low

SJVN Ltd. reported a 50% year-on-year drop in January–March quarter net profit to ₹307.2 million, its lowest in eight quarters. Profit also declined 78% sequentially. Revenue fell 3.4% on year and 29% sequentially to ₹4.46 billion.

 

For 2024–25, net profit rose nearly 7% to ₹9.70 billion, and revenue increased over 14% to ₹28.97 billion.

 

Total expenses declined 7% to ₹5.17 billion. Depreciation and amortisation expenses dropped over 53% to ₹1.08 billion, while other expenses fell nearly 8% to ₹1.18 billion. Tax expenses surged to ₹298.4 million, from a tax write-back of ₹43.4 million last year.

 

Operating margin improved to 49.97%, up from 19.18%, though net profit margin fell to 6.89% from 13.32%.

 

Revenue from renewable energy rose to ₹68.3 million from ₹52.5 million. However, FY25 renewable revenue fell over 10% to ₹488.3 million. Power trading revenue surged 55% year-on-year to ₹186.9 million, with FY25 trading sales rising to ₹756.2 million from ₹402.1 million.

 

Other income for the quarter more than doubled to ₹1.27 billion. The board approved raising funds through securitisation of future cash flows from the Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station.
