Power Grid July-September Profit Drops 6% ; Board Approves ₹4.5 Interim Dividend

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. reported a 6% year-on-year fall in consolidated net profit to ₹35.66 billion for the September quarter, compared to ₹37.93 billion in the same period last year.

Revenue from operations rose nearly 2% to ₹114.76 billion from ₹112.78 billion a year ago. However, operating performance weakened — EBITDA fell 6% to ₹91.14 billion from ₹97.01 billion, while margins narrowed to 79.4% from 86% last year.

The board approved a first interim dividend of ₹4.50 per share (45% of face value) for 2025-26, with November 10 set as the record date and payment due on December 1.

It also cleared plans to raise up to ₹60 billion through an unsecured rupee term loan or line of credit from the State Bank of India to support operations and future projects.

On Monday, Power Grid shares closed flat at ₹288 on the NSE, with results announced after market hours. The stock has slipped 1.2% over the past week, 6.5% in the last six months, and 7% year-to-date. The company’s market capitalisation stands at ₹2.68 trillion.

Power Grid operates one of the world’s largest power transmission networks, spanning around 176,343 circuit km and 275 substations, playing a key role in strengthening India’s power infrastructure.
