India is forging strategic trade agreements with the US, EU, Australia and several other economic powers.

Weeks ago it signed a comprehensive deal with the European Union and now has a framework agreement with the US that envisages a reduction in reciprocal tariffs on Indians exports to 18% in exchange for zero-duty import of American industrial goods and market access for select agricultural exports from the US.

Professor Arpita Mukherjee of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) joins Rajesh Mahapatra to connect the dots in India's evolving trade arc. Mukherjee weighs potential gains from these deals with concerns of WTO compliance, US protectionism, and fast changing geopolitical dynamics.
