Ashok Leyland April Sales Slip After Five-Month Run

Ashok Leyland Ltd. on Friday said total despatches in April fell 6% on year to 13,421 units, snapping a five-month growth streak. Sales nearly halved from March.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales dropped 13% on year to 7,960 units, with bus sales plunging 22% to 1,841 units. Truck sales declined 9% to 6,119 units.

Light commercial vehicle sales, the only segment to rise on year, stood at 5,461 units, up 5.5% but down 22% from March.

Domestic sales fell 7% on year to 12,509 units, dragged by a 10% drop in truck sales and a 28% fall in bus sales.
