Angel One Sees 35% Drop In New Clients In April; Turnover Up On Options Trading

Angel One on Wednesday said its gross client acquisition fell 35% on year to 490,000 in April. However, its total client base rose 37% to 31.48 million, according to an exchange filing.

The brokerage handled 106.61 million orders during the month, down over 21% from a year ago. Average daily orders also dropped over 17% to 5.61 million.

Despite the drop in volumes, overall average daily turnover in April, based on option premium turnover, surged nearly 58% on year to ₹1.067 trillion.

Turnover from the futures and options segment averaged ₹134 billion per day, down 6% on year. Meanwhile, the average daily turnover from the commodity segment jumped over 90% to ₹862 billion.
